Kneeboard contest kicks off Friday in Huntington Beach
If you’re looking for a good excuse to hang on the beach and watch the waves on Friday while the weather is still good, come check out some of the best kneeboarders in the world on the south side of the Huntington Beach Pier.
The annual Kneeboard Surfing USA Titles and Festivals starts at 7 a.m., and runs through Saturday.
“This is one of the premier Kneeboarding events in the world,” said Don Harris, Kneeboard Surfing USA president. “Having our championships in Huntington Beach allows us to showcase some incredibly talented Kneeboard Surfers and surf-wise HB has really delivered the goods.”
Competitors were lucky last year, with perfect head-high peaks. There were about 80 competitors from around the world battling it out, with San Diego’s Jack Beresford taking the win.
The event is open for the public to come and check out. There’s also nighttime events at Sandy’s Beach Grill at 6 p.m. each night.
